Helen Peppe's short stories, articles, and photographs have appeared in anthologies, books, and magazines, including Practical Horseman, Equus, Dog Fancy, and The Good Men Project. She placed first in the Word Worth Essay and Fiction Contest, and The Starving Writer Literary Contest twice. She was one of seven finalists for the 2011 Annie Dillard Creative Nonfiction Award. Helen’s memoir, Pigs Can’t Swim, is a 2014 Indie Introduce Title, Indie Next Title, and a 2014 New England Book Awards finalist. She has done memoir and photography events at libraries and bookstores from the east to the west coast on family, memory, and the difference between honesty and truth. She lives in the Portland, Maine area with her husband, children, dogs and horses.
