Ben Hewitt lives in northern Vermont with is wife, Penny, and sons Fin and Rye. The Hewitt family operates a highly diversified 40-acre hill farm, focusing on the production of nutrient dense foods from biologically active soils. A high school dropout and self-taught writer, Ben is the author of five books, including, most recently, Home Grown and The Nourishing Homestead. He consults frequently on homestead planning, design, and implementation, as well as the business and craft of writing. The Hewitt’s also run Lazy Mill Living Arts, which offers workshops in practical skills for land and hand.
