One thing tends to lead to another. This has been my experience with contemplative practice over the past couple of decades. When the time is right, the practice will come to you.

The practices take hold when we begin where we are, with what feels right right now rather than forcing an end-result upon ourselves prematurely.

With peace, we make peace by remembering our true nature, by letting the peace and loving-kindness that already exist reveal themselves. We begin where we are. There is no need to begin by forcing yourself to think loving thoughts about someone or something that you do not feel loving thoughts for. Begin where you are, with what and whom you already feel affection for, and the practice will make its own way.

We make peace with ourselves, our bodies, with the person who cuts in front of us at the market. We make peace by remembering love.
