Together: a meditation

We are together.
Connection with the environment, others, our own true nature is our birthright.
This meditation reminds us that togetherness is already happening.

Find your way to a seat where you can be with relative ease.
This might be lying down.
Feel the grounding support of the earth and the enlivening wakefulness of the sky.
Notice the balance of effort and ease in the body.
Where there is effort, allow for ease.
Where there is ease, allow for engagement.

Locate the places where your body and the earth make contact.
Settle in-to these spaces, soften in-to this contact.
Notice the sensation of your skin being supported, the first layer of contact between your body and earth.
Feel the earth’s skin beneath you, the first layer of contact between the earth and your body.
Be curious about the contact: what do you feel right now?
Sense the contact below that first layer of skin: can you feel the contact a millimeter below the surface of your skin? A centimeter deep into the body?
Sense the contact below the skin of the earth; can you sense the contact a millimeter below the surface of the earth? A centimeter deep into the earth?
Can you sense the stability of the earth beneath you?
And how deep in your body can you feel this contact with the earth?
Can you feel it in your bones?
And what does it feel like in your bones? To make contact? To be held?
And how deep beneath the surface of the earth can you sense your impression on the earth? How deep beneath the surface can you sense your impression on the earth?
And what does it feel like?
As you yield to earth and as earth holds you,
You are together.

Invite your awareness to your breath and to breathing.
You might focus your awareness around the rings of your nose.
Noticing breath moving into the body.
Noticing breath moving out of the body.
And as breath moves in and out of the body, can you feel that you and the sky are together?
Through the breath.
Sky becoming part of you as you take breath in,
And you becoming part of sky as you let breath go.
And at every point along the way, you are together.
As you breathe in sky, and as sky breathes in you,
You are together.

Invite your awareness to your ears.
Sense your ears.
Sense the aliveness of your ears.
And as your awareness rests in the aliveness of your ears, you might notice as sounds come to meet you.
And as you rest with the aliveness of your ears, the aliveness of the planet comes to you.
And you are together.

Invite your awareness to your eyes.
Hovering between having closed eyes and having open eyes.
Allow sight to return to you just how it does:
As light and form and shape return to you,
As your recognition of light and form and shape return to you,
You are together.
